"The Promise Given" - Lesa's & Jamie's Take

--Lesa's Take --

The promise given
--Lesa's Take--
The Promise Given.

No sleep.
Pain.
Cradling my stomach, curled in a ball... Trying to wait it out. Trying to be tough.
I didn't want to go into the hospital just to get sent home again.
So waiting... As the pain increased... I thought to myself... I don't want to waste anyone's time. I don't want to give anyone a false alarm. I have to be patient...

"As a woman with child drawing near the time of her delivery
is in pain  and  writhes and cries out in her pangs, so we have
been before You (at Your presence), O Lord." Isaiah 26:17 AMP

When I couldn't take it anymore... I stood up... Holding my stomach with both hands, trying to keep from stumbling. I yelled for my mom. She too, had been up with me the majority of the night. It was around noon... And at this point, I had already been in the beginning stages of Labor since 8pm the night before.

My mom quickly got in the car as I wobbled and stopped, wobbled and stopped my way to the passenger side door. Climbing in was a challenge. I couldn't breathe. I felt as if a boa constrictor was constricting me!

I couldn't concentrate on anything but the pain. I slammed my feet into the floor board and kept my mouth shut as I tried to think out the pain... Saying just 1minute and the pain will relieve... I knew it would come back 1minute later, but the 1minute I had between each contraction... The minute that my insides didn't feel like they were being torn apart and rewired... It felt like heaven. I could take a breath. I could unclench my fists. I could talk and think...And when my brain would begin to work...
The only thing I could manage to say in 1minute segments to my mom over and over was "does Jamie know to come now? Is she on her way? Are they going to be there in time?"

The drive to the hospital was the longest drive of my life... It was only 30minutes, but it seemed to be like 30hours. I kept kicking and crying. I was slamming my fists on the window. My mom kept telling me to breathe. I would hold my breath and the pain would last longer. I wasn't sure I could do this. It seemed that only a few minutes ago I thought contractions were funny... But now I had to humble myself and let my mom be right... That they were awful.

We pulled up to the hospital... We parked and walked in. What were we thinking! We Walked all the way to the front door... Got on an elevator and walked to go check in. I was in LABOR and walking everywhere! My knees were so weak. I just wanted the pain to go away. I was so tired.

I couldn't think of anything. I barely paid attention to what was going on around me. Before I knew it, Jamie was there and I was in the delivery room getting my epidural.  Man, did I want the Epidural!

I was at a 5 when I first got there and at a 7 when they finally said I could have an Epi. I was hoping so bad it would work. I was scared because of all the horror stories I had heard, but the pain was unbearable. Worse than anything I had ever felt. I didn't care what they had to do. I was exhausted.

The anesthesiologist asked me to scoot to the side of the bed, to the very edge. Slowly, I scooted, Cringing every time I had a contraction. He asked me to put my knees as close to my stomach as possible and for me to bend in a moon shape...To kind of Fold in half... It seemed like mission impossible.

My mom came to my left side and held my hand... As Jamie came and comforted me on my right side by holding my other hand. The anesthesiologist asked me to bend a little more so he could put the needle in my back. It was so difficult to move any further. I was so nervous that he was going to mess up.

"I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
What can mere mortals do to me?" Psalm 56:11 NLT

I looked up and I saw Jamie's face. She looked white as a ghost. I heard the man count down in a calm voice and I felt a sharp sting on the lower half of my back. Then a really cooling sensation. It seemed to be over quickly... Much quicker than I had expected.

Feeling the effects almost immediately, Jamie had said she needed to sit down because she was feeling woozy. I turned to look at Jamie sitting against the wall in a hospital chair and I tried to ask if she was okay. I had the urge to comfort her.

I laid back down in the hospital bed and the dr told me that if I started feeling any pain to push the button they gave me that controlled my Epi. I was feeling great. The first time I could relax in almost 11hrs... And I was thrilled.

I was getting comfy as Jamie and my mon stood by my bed. They watched the contraction monitor, as the waves would sky rocket when I was having a contraction they would ask me if I felt it.. We all started laughing and I started to drift off and get some much needed sleep.

Awakened about every 30minutes, a dr would be checking on baby Pax to see the progress and to see if I would be dilated anymore. Everyone kept telling me that they could feel him and that he'd have no hair. I disagreed. I knew my baby would have hair despite what everyone was saying. My baby would not be a baldy, and I wanted him to come out so he could prove to everyone that he would have a full luscious head of hair!

At about 4:30-5 and after a decent amount of snoozing,  one of the delivery nurses told me that it was time to start pushing. My Mom and Jamie were in the room. The nurse helped push my knees up because I couldn't feel my legs and my mom and Jamie took their positions on either side of me, just as I was taking mine. They both looked at me and grabbed each hand. I felt as though we were positioning for battle.

" I have no ulterior motives in this; I'm speaking honestly from my heart." Job 33:3 MSG

The delivery nurse said that since I couldn't feel my contractions, she would tell me when to start pushing. We were all so eager... When she said for the first time "push!"

I tried to bear down and push, but with no feeling, I thought my efforts were useless. I wished some of the epidural would wear off so I could at least feel something! It was hard to get the hang of pushing when it didn't feel natural.

After an hour of pushing and nothing to show for it. I was feeling discouraged. The nurse asked me to sit and rest and we would try again soon. I looked at Jamie and my mom and told them I was scared because I didn't want to have to get a c-section.

The nurse came back and said that if I couldn't push him out then a c-section would be the only option. I felt motivated. I looked and Jamie and my mom and then we began again. Pushing and pushing. It just wasn't enough...

But then, I started to feel the pressure from the contractions and putting all embarrassment aside, I let Jamie And my mom hold up each leg as I pushed. All my goodies were hanging out and I was unashamed.
I pushed two times--hard and the nurse looked at me and told me to stop... That the baby was coming but the dr wasn't in the room yet. Stopping pushing was almost harder than actually pushing. I tried to hold back but I wanted him out.

The dr seemed to take forever, but as soon as he Got in the room, I gave two hard pushes and with some encouragement from Jamie and my Mom announcing each time his head was out and then his shoulders and to give one last push.... He was out.

" When he could be hidden no longer, he was put outside-and immediately rescued by Pharaoh's daughter, who mothered him as her own son." Acts 7:21 MSG

While the dr held crying Paxton, Jamie was asked to cut the umbilical cord. Her face was flushed in excitement. She grabbed the scissors so shakily because of her overflowing joy and after two squeezes on the scissors, Paxton was free from me and then the dr attempted to  hand him back to me.

Then, the hardest words that have ever escaped my mouth were spoken into existence. "no, give him to his mother."

"When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly." Proverbs 31:26 MSG

My heart was broken. I wanted to be the first one to hold him so bad, but then I saw him put him in her arms. And she began to love him.. With all the goop... She kissed him and began crying... Her tears were contagious. I  smiled and cried.. And saw Gods promise fulfilled in her eyes.

They then took little Paxton to be cleaned and Jamie and my mom followed. I was stuck where I was. I had yet to see his face. I was being stitched up and I felt as if everyone had forgotten about me. They were all huddled around the baby, and I was left broken in pieces in the hospital bed. I could hear them all ooooing and awwwing behind nurses that were in my view and all I wanted to do, was stand up and be with Paxton and the rest of them.

"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
he rescues those whose spirits are crushed." Psalm 34:18 NLT

I had been living for Paxton the past 9months, doing things that I would want him to be proud of... So when Paxton was placed in Jamie's arms, I felt as if I was giving up my life, and placing it in her arms.

I gave birth to new life and that new life gave birth to a new feeling I had never experienced: Love, in the purest most sacrificial form. True Selfless Love.

I then asked the drs to do something for me before they left the room, I wanted Ben to experience this moment since he couldnt be there when his wife gave birth. I asked Jamie to let him in to see his son. She ran to the door and Ben and my sister came into the room. Paxton was placed in Bens arms for the first time. I could feel The Holy Spirit... I could feel the love that surrounded us... And in my brokenness I found peace...

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid." John 14:27 NLT

The nurses had to take Paxy back into the baby room to get his foot prints and finger prints, pictures and finish getting him cleaned up and ready to be put in the rooms with us. I didn't want Paxton out of my sight, but he would need to eat soon and Jamie would be the one to feed him.

Before I got to move into my own room, my mom left and brought me some sonic. I was starving and was so thirsty. I chugged a huge sonic drink--route 44 and as I was, Susan came to visit me! She was a good friend of mine who had been supporting me through my whole pregnancy. She had been like a second mother to me.  I was so happy to have her there and I couldn't wait for her to see Paxton, I couldn't wait to see him either and look at his face and just examine every inch of him. I wanted every part of his body engraved in my mind.

As we were being taken to our own separate rooms, I felt anything but separate from the Ward family...
I couldn't wait to spend the next few days with The beautiful blessing that God had placed into our arms and ultimately into our hearts.

"But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard-things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good-crucified. Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives." Galatians 5:22-25 MSG

"The Promise Given" - Jamie's Take

"And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." - 2 Corinthians 9:8

In and out of sleep. I checked my phone often and I didn't hear anything. I'd drift back to sleep, only to wake up suddenly with heart palpitations with every noise that came from the house.

In the morning, Ben had left early to figure out our water situation at the house and to get some more stuff we'd need to be comfortable at the hospital and Heather's.  I finally got up, slipped out of bed and fell on my knees. I prayed, with warm tears down my face, I was thankful..emotional..grateful...speechless.

Heather and her boys were in the kitchen getting a late start as well. They had ball games and errands to run. Her and I caught up on what happened the night before and we talked about when she might go back to hospital. I headed back to my room to make a hospital bag for myself - not knowing if Ben and I would even be able to stay, when I got the phone call. Lesa's mom had called to let us know they were heading to the hospital and she'd let me know when she gets officially admitted.

I called Ben with the update and got ready. I was unusually slow about getting myself ready. I wanted my hair to be perfect, I wanted to look like a mother, I wanted to be put together - as if qualifying myself for the gift God was giving me. I finally was finished when I received a text that she had been admitted and was at a 5 and that they were giving her an epidural soon.

"I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant." - Genesis 32:10

I took Lesa's car to the hospital, stopping to fill up the tank and get Lesa's mom a soda. This was happening. Everything was in slow motion. I can even remember the blue corolla in front of me the majority of my drive. Ben was at the house figuring out the water issue and wanted updates. He wouldn't answer his phone which was unusual but I didn't think much of it and just assumed he was busy.

When I got to the hospital they let me in. I was so honored to be able to be back in the room. When the nurse came in we made sure I could be back with her during delivery and the nurse didn't see any issue with it. I also asked about a room and they went to see if it would be possible. Lesa and I joked and laughed. She was in pain this time around - though I could still tell she was trying to keep her cool. She was silent the majority of the time. Her sister came shortly after to visit and her brother was in the room when I had arrived but was getting picked up by Lesa's dad shortly.

I left the room to call my mom - it hadn’t struck me till I got there that maybe they would want to all be here. I also had had Ben call his mom in the morning to let her know the baby was possibly coming. Ben knew Lesa was admitted but I couldn't seem to reach him after that last call. I continued to call, only to take a break, to be with Lesa as she got her epidural.

I saw the whole thing. Lesa sat off the side of the bed, as Lesa’s mom held her up on her left side and I on her right. I looked behind Lesa watching the doctor administer her epidural. I saw this tube be inserted into her back and as it stuck out there - I got a little light headed - I didn't want to be whimpy so I held the urge for a second. Still intrigued I watched him wipe away excess ointment from her back - then he grabbed this little bag that held what looked like looped up wire. As he told Lesa he was almost finished - he stated "I'm going to string this wire into the tube and near your spine."

That’s it. My stomach became undone.

I had to sit down. I apologized to Lesa - as she chuckled, I walked to the door and sat down. I was on the verge of passing out so I stuck my legs in the air, to get the blood flowing. Both Lesa and her mom laughed at me. I felt so bad - though they didn't care - I wanted to be strong for Lesa but that was intense. I should of been wise and not looked like Lesa's mom.

Afterward, as any young adult after a major life event (even not-so-major events) we updated our status and then I went into the hall to call Ben.

He was still not answering and I was panicked. All I could think was 'Great! God's giving me a baby and taking my husband - he's in a car accident I know it."

I got ahold of Ben's mom who was on our way and let me know she would contact Ben for me while I was with Lesa. In the middle of our call, Ben finally calls back. His phone had fell in between the seat of the car and console and it was on silent. He was on his way. He asked if we needed anything -- moment of truth -- I didn’t hesitate.

I want a burger and fries and the world's largest soda! Lesa's mom was hungry too. It was the perfect time to get some food - as Lesa couldn't eat but was already dozing from no sleep and the relieving effects of the epidural.

Ben arrived. We found seats in the lobby. And most importantly, at the moment, I ate...and it was good. I sat with Lesa's mom as we ate and we had a heart to heart. It was the first time I actually got to really talk to her. Lesa was asleep and it was a perfect time.

We had some light talk then I asked..."Are you okay, with all of this?" She looked at me surprised, but very serious. She insured me in many words that she was more than okay with it. She vulnerably stated that she hated that she couldn’t raise another grandbaby. She and Lesa both are in love with us and know that this is right.  A bit more comfortable, I asked,"Is Lesa sure, is she gonna change her mind?" She was a little puzzled, but given the circumstances it wasn't the weirdest thing I could of said. She again assured me Lesa was sure about both of us, sure of the fact she can't raise this baby or give him the life she wants for him, she wanted a mother and a father. She didn't doubt it would be hard but she knows its the best. We continued to eat when her and Lesa’s mutal friend arrived. I was introduced and she embraced Ben and I with such gratitude. Lesa's mom took her back to see her and we stayed in the lobby.

We updated our statuses on our social network pages for our friends to stay a float and posted a silly video about being soon to be parents. Most of our closest friends (mostly church) were attending an event for married couples for Valentine's. We had planned to go but of course we had better things to do.

My parents arrived and then Ben's shortly after. We updated them on what was going on.

Then, as if God himself had put His foot on the gas - it began.

In the middle of me talking about how Lesa was - Lesa's mom came out to let me know she was going to begin pushing. I headed back in. All systems were a go.

Ben was allowed pass the double doors but only as far as the door to the delivery room. He remained on the floor of that hallway with his ear perched near the bottom of the door.

We had been there since 12:30 in the afternoon and it was getting to be 4:30pm. Time was flying and going slow at the same time. I entered the room to see Lesa still visiting with her friend. A few moments later the nurse came in to remind her it was nearing time and her friend would need to leave. As she did leave she gave everyone in the room individual great big hugs.

We had been there during a few shift changes so the doctor delivering was changing, as well as the nurses. The doctor delivering was the very doctor I was praying would. He had incredible report and I so badly wanted him included in this. My heart was at rest, I knew we were in great hands.

Lesa began pushing about 5 and not really getting the hang of it. She was still numb from her epidural and didn't push the button to administer more. She wanted to be able to know when they were coming but still numb enough to not feel anything. She was doing great. Our bond was growing even more, she was allowing me to witness the birth of our baby, all guards were down. She was humble and incredible. I felt honored. The nurses were learning our story and taking care of all three of us Lesa, her mom and I. They would come in every thrity minutes to an hour and have her push. I would pop out to inform Ben of the lastest happenings and he would let me know when I was telling him too much. He then would relay it to the family.

After a few hours, before the nurses said they would be back in, I went out to the lobby with Ben to update the family and get some reassurance.

Finally, about 7:00 the nurses were changing and also Lesa was told in all seriousness that the baby has been low for awhile and needs to be out, he will have some serious crowning and if she can’t push him out the next round - she'll need a c-section.

She was determined to get him out. I was hopeful she would too, as I would not be able to see him if she sectioned. So we relaxed for a few. The time drug on. Then the nurses came. The nurse we had when Lesa checked in the night before was back - which was a relief because she knew our history and we knew that she was cool with me being there. We talked a bit - then Lesa was told to push. Her epidural was wearing off perfectly. She wasn't feeling the pain but knew when the contractions were coming. She was baring down incredibly. Within pushes - the nurse promptly asked her to stop - the baby was coming. Seemed Lesa was determined after all. Lesa informed her that he needed to get in here because she couldn’t just not push. As if the request was completely not doable.

The doctor was delivering two other babies at the same time - so emotions were all over the place.

The room filled with people. They were making things happen like no ones business. I was witnessing a birth and it was incredible. The doctor entered and Lesa pushed. Within minutes, what was seemingly a bit gross yet intriguing to me became a supernatural, undeniable, favorable moment.

At 7:58pm, my son was born.

The doctors assistant went to hand baby boy to Lesa when she stopped her and told her my name and that I was his mother. She turned away slightly as to keep from accepting - what was undeniably hers - so that I could receive what God had taken from her to give to me.

I lost it. I had never had that kind of selfless introduction in my life. As soon as I knew it, I held my son.

Tears.

I kissed him ever so lightly. Lesa’s mother dropped her daughter’s hand to grab my camera without any thought to capture my first moment with my son. I didn’t even ask.

I was undone. They were so selfless. They truly blessed me. I will never ever forget that.

Ever.

I took him over to finish being cleaned and weighed. 7 pounds and 5 ounces and 21 inches long. Pictures were sent to Ben and the family waiting in the lobby. Once I was cleared to open the door, I went out to tell Ben. We embraced and looked at each other in disbelief. Hand in hand we walked out to the lobby to personally introduce our son’s birth. When we came out, we found some additions - some of our friends had arrived and more were coming. After we updated them I was eager for Ben to hold Pax.

As I entered, Lesa was holding him. Only after asking Lesa, Ben was able to come in. I won’t forget it. Ben came in and went straight for Lesa. He kissed her forehead and looked at her. And before setting his eyes on his son, he asked if she was okay. That was my husband, a true gentleman. Lesa, chuckled, I think she was a bit taken back that Ben would be concerned with her. She then made the honorable ask. She asked Ben if he would like to hold his son.

It was perfect.

Ben embraced his son. For the first time it became real to Ben. He was a dad.

We talked with Lesa for a bit and then Pax had to be taken to the nursery to be given his first bath.

I 'happenstancely' knew the nurses aide taking him to the nursery - she was incredible and allowed us to stop in the lobby for all our family to see. Heather and her husband were there too.  Our parents couldn’t get enough pictures.

It was all happening so fast.

The nurses aide let me know they'd be prompt and also told us the most wonderful news (as if it couldn’t get any better). They had a room for us! It would be right next to Lesa's room at the end of the hallway near the nursery. We could stay until Pax was discharged!

Ben and I followed our baby to the nursery and then took the long way back to get to our rooms. We held hands and couldn't say much..except that he was a daddy and I was a mommy..and we had a baby.

As we got to our room we had some visitors plus our family all waiting till Pax would return.

As I waited I decided to go see Lesa one last time in the delivery room as they still hadn't moved her. Her friend had brought her a drink and I brought her my gratitude. I just loved her more than I ever thought! She was exhausted and was soon to be moved to her room to rest. I gave her a hug and we talked briefly about what the first night entailed. We could have the baby in our room to feed and bond with, while she got much needed rest. She had just birthed a baby she had carried for months and was now allowing me to nourish and bond with him his first night of life out side of her.

I couldn't believe her selflessness. I left, walking down the hall, alone, I fell to the floor in an abandoned hallway - like a baby I bawled. God was in that place. I could feel Him. He had given me a healthy baby boy and an incredible woman to show me raw humility.

"Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault." - Jude 1:24

I headed back to our room. We had even more visitors. After an hour and a half Pax was brought to our room. We were given bracelets - as if we were the natural parents. I had a mommy band and I was crying. Most of our visitors had left, as it was getting late. But those who were there got to the priveledge of meeting our son, including, most importantly my apprehensive parents.

Immediately my parents we’re hooked. My most cherished moments was when my dad held him. He was undone. His first grandchild. It was so tender to see him love my son, embrace him and not want to let him go.

As the last few left, with my mom, younger sister and few best girl friends were there - I stripped myself and him down and I fed him his bottle - skin to skin. It was perfect. He was perfect. God was SO PERFECT! After the feeding we had some more guests and they got their fill. My parents decided to stay in town and help with the house the next day.

All I could find myself saying was God was so good.

We said good night to our last visitors. And then there were three.

We sent Pax to nursery for a few hours to get checked up. We preferred him with us, but since he was a BUFA BABY (Baby Up For Adoption) he had to have lots of tests ran on him. At 3 a.m. Pax visited again for some skin on skin and a bottle. He went back for more vitals and returned again about 6:30 for another bottle - which he played with more than drank and remained on my chest till about 8 - when he was whisked away to meet his pediatrician in the nursery.

I crashed again and awoke at 9:30 to our baby entering Lesa's room... my heart sank. I didn't want her to change her mind. I mean the baby was perfect. I was in love. We were in love. The next few days were gonna be hard and my heart couldn’t handle the wall between him and I.

Either way I had made up my mind - I was going to be loving, tender, patient and, as Lesa as my mentor, I was going to be selfless.
I loved Lesa and we were grateful. So in my gratitude - I gave her the only gift that truly meant something and really the only gift I could give (that in reality wasn’t really mine to give) - space. Space and time with her child.

Receiving our Promise was going to cost. As believers, we received a promise because God sent his Son to die for us and qualify us for God's goodness. He doesn't promise no pain or heart ache - He does promise to be faithful. So we had to hold on to the fact that God is faithful!

"I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living." - Psalms 27:13

After waiting in the hallway for what seemed like days, with my face pressed to the floor so that my ears could at least capture the sound of my first child’s birth. He came.
When I walked in, Lesa the birth mother of my child asked me without hesitation, one of the best questions I’d ever been asked - If I would like to hold my son.

There he was, all 7 pounds and 5 ounces and 21 inches long, right in front of me, swaddled in a blanket in the arms of a woman that I could never repay. The emotion inside of me was like none that I had ever felt. It was greater than joy, greater than happiness, greater than excitement, greater than love. The emotion was unexplainable.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have wanted to be a father since the day I got married. I LOVE kids. Ask anyone. I am drawn to them and for some reason they are drawn to me. I told Jamie that as soon as she was ready we were going to do it (pun intended). Every fiber in me was ready to be a father. I know I am created for many reasons and one of them, most assuredly, is to be a father. A father to children of birthed by my wife or through adoption.

So after close to 4 years of unsuccessful attempts at becoming a father, there I was, a little after 8pm on February 12 finally seeing my miracle alive; my promise fulfilled!

I cannot sit here and type details like Jamie and Lesa can. My brain doesn’t work that way. Chalk it up to being a guy or whatever, but this is how I remember the time leading up to the moment above.

Friday night, February 11, Jamie and Lesa were headed to a woman’s church function for a rally. So I, of course, was headed to my friend Nathan’s house with a bunch of buddies for a men’s movie marathon.

I remember watching a movie, couldn’t even come close to telling you what it was, and receiving a phone call from Jamie with this excitement in her voice, almost to the point to where I couldn’t understand her, telling me they were headed to the hospital.

If you know me than you know my reaction was rather monotone in its outside appearance. I told her okay and that I would go pack up some things for the hospital and wait on her phone call.

All this, while on the inside I was pretty much having the time of my life. I was dancing and yelling and screaming and smiling like a teenage girl at a Justin Bieber concert.

I went and packed, and..............................well, I fell asleep. Jamie was taking too long to call and I was tired, so I went to bed. Don’t even remember Jamie getting home or crawling into bed that night (I am a very strong sleeper). Makes me think if I would of heard her calling.

The morning of February 12 I headed to our house to fix our water problem. We were staying at our friends, due to our shower being broken and water having to be turned off. I needed to get it done because that night we were going to a Valentine’s dinner that our church was putting on.

All I remember is that the day seemed just like any other for the most part. I got a phone call from Jamie pretty soon after I left informing me that Lesa and her mother were headed to the hospital and that she would call when they admitted her. I called my mother to inform her of the update because I knew she would want to be there.

I then went back to attempting,as best I could, to fix the shower. To no avail it remained unfixed. I started picking up around the house and trying to stay busy. I was starting to wonder if it was another false alarm, because I hadn’t heard from Jamie.

I started freaking out. Surely Jamie would have called by now, even if to just let me know nothing was going on or to ask me to grab something else from her millions of clothing options, for her to wear to dinner.

I realized I had no idea as to where my phone was. The search began. It took me literally close to 30 minutes to find it and when I did I had more than a dozen calls from Jamie and a few from my mother.

Voicemail after voicemail of, “Lesa is being admitted, where are you? Grab the bags and head to the hospital.” Ensured me we were having a baby today.

I called Jamie to get the latest update, to find a very worried bride. I explained my phone fiasco and asked if she or the ladies needed anything. Jamie gave me directions, as any wife and then filling me in.

A huge smile came across my face not only because I knew I was going to be a father soon, but also because I could hear the joy and excitement in Jamie’s voice. We were going to be parents.

I went and grabbed the bags and headed to the hospital, picking up lunch for myself, Jamie and Lesa’s mom on the way.

My job at the hospital was the informer. Jamie would tell me updates and then I would relay that on to our families and friends that were there waiting. I was in a constant walk, not wanting to sit down, anxiously awaiting the birth of my son! Jamie says it didn’t take long, but when you are outside the room, not seeing everything first hand, it seemed like it was taking an eternity. I met a lot of new people that night as there were two other families expecting new additions at any moment. Hearing the cry of their new baby made me want to hold Pax even more and brought tears of joy to my eyes at times.

The moment finally came that Jamie said the nurses told Lesa this was going to be the last time she pushed and that if Pax didn’t come out they would have to do a C-section. Of course from getting to know Lesa over the last few weeks and knowing that she wanted to give birth naturally as well as knowing that God answered prayers I knew Pax would be here at any moment and I was ready for him.

Lesa’s sister was there and so her and I laid on the floor with our ears pressed against the door as much as possible to hear what was happening in that room. I remember hearing the nurses say "okay stop pushing we have to get the doctor" because the baby was coming. I remember hearing the doctor enter. I remember hearing laughter. I remember hearing the word push a few times. I remember hearing silence.

And then.....my most memorable moment of that night, I heard my baby boy cry for the very first time.

"A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world." John 16:21

Since I couldn’t go into the room I ran out to the waiting rooms and informed everyone there that Pax was here. I seemed of overheard measurement wrong and told everyone he was 31” long, I didn’t know any better. I was hugging family and friends until Jamie came and said I could come into the room.

And there he was, my promise! Lesa handed him to me. This woman gave me a miracle, just placed in my arms a beautiful breathing miracle. She trusted me to be his father. I was honored.

"And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me." Matthew 18:5

The rest of the night was perfect. I held, changed, fed and kissed Pax over and over. We had friends and family pop in and out until close to midnight congratulating us and coming to see (and wanting to hold) Pax.

When I would hold him I was thankful that God would consider us to raise him. I was going to love him with every fiber of my being and I was going to raise him knowing and loving the God who gave him to us. He was going to grow up never doubting if he was loved. Im determined to give him everything he needs and encourage him to be strong and courageous and nothing he would ever do would separate him from my love.

"Start children off on the way they should go
and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6

"The father of a righteous child has great joy;
a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him." Proverbs 23:24

I was a father. Jamie was a mother. We were a family!

"The Labored Irony" - Lesa's & Jamie's Take

--Lesa's Take --

Friday-- God is Funny

On Friday morning, I went by myself back to the baby drs. She checked me and did the routine stuff, but then she told me that she was going to
Strip my membranes to sensitize the uterus to begin contractions.  She told me that after she did this--the natural way of inducing labor-- that I would either begin to go into labor... That night or the next day...  or it wouldn't be enough and he would stay in there.

I was scared it was going to hurt. Was I ready for Labor? I wasn't ready at all. Jamie and I were going to the James River Women's rally in the evening and I was looking forward to it. I didn't want delivering a baby to ruin our time together. I was being selfish.

All these Selfish thoughts in my mind and before I knew it Jamie was done and I didn't feel a thing. How was I going to be selfish when God had been making all the "painful" things so easy on me.

I was going to have a natural labor--not a c-section. I wouldn't have a scar with no baby. God had planned for me, even  before I was born, that my body would be able to deliver a child naturally. I should be joyful. I should be content.

I listen carefully to what God the LORD is saying,
for he speaks peace to his faithful people.
Psalm 85:8 NLT

I left the Drs feeling good, but tired. I had started school and was so excited. I had one class to attend.. A humanities  class. It was over at noon. I sat in the back row not wanting anyone to see me. I didn't want them questioning me... At least time flew by...

When I got home I really wanted to take a nap. Instead, I got on my computer and downloaded a bunch of Christian Jams to Put on my IPod so I could listen to it while I was in the hospital.

Music can hold my interest all night... Especially if I am downloading songs... So when I realized what time it was... I needed to get ready to go. I hadn't even showered yet!

Not wanting to be late by trying to find an outfit to fit my huge body, I just kept on a blue t-shirt and my white Victoria's secret sweat pants. What?!  I was comfy! ;)

I drove up to the Church and there were so many cars and women everywhere. I didn't want to be stared at like a "leper." I was getting antsy. I was texting Jamie as I tried to find a parking spot and I looked up just to see about ten girls cross the parking lot-- all dressed up. I knew I was going to stick out like a sore thumb.

I parked and continued texting Jamie. I walked in the closest door and stood and waited for her to find me. I didn't want to wobble around all the people and I didn't want very many people to see me. I was ashamed and embarrassed....

Then I saw Jamie. My confidence started to build as she walked toward me. I knew God had chosen this for me and in the midst of Gods people... I should feel welcomed not abandoned.

She smiled at me and touched my belly and as i told her about the dr's appointment that morning. We sat down outside the door, drinking coffee and she handed me a present. A little black necklace with a key on it. I loved it... When we were finished with our coffee, we walked off to go find a seat.

The place was packed. We found a seat in the middle of a row. When the rally began, they played games, and then did a back rub to "get to know" the person next to you. It felt awesome!  After the back rub, worship began. Jamie had been making jokes about praising the baby out. I wanted to stand the whole praise and worship time, but I felt so heavy. I had to periodically take a seat and watch everyone else lift their hands to the heavens.

As I was sitting, I started to realize that my stomach kept tightening and then being soft and squishy again. I hadn't felt anything like it. I thought it was just gas (gotta b honest) because it kept going away. I ignored it and continued to stand up and sit down and praise!

When the singing stopped, we greeted each other and then we all sat down again to listen to the message. Jamie and I couldn't sit still. I told her that I thought I was having contractions, but I wasn't sure. She was so excited.

I told her the next time I had one she had to to feel my belly. It was Rock hard... We were trying to pay attention to the message, but in the middle of the sea of girls, we were having our own message.

"If any man has ears to hear, let him be listening  and  let him perceive  and
                comprehend. "Mark 4:23 AMP

I asked Jamie to time the contractions on her phone. I told her when I began my first one and we times about 5 of them before she asked if we needed to go. I didn't want to get up and leave in the middle of everyone.

A video was playing on stage... And while Jamie and I had been Talking.. We overheard the woman on it say "like a woman with labor pains." At this moment, we just lost it! Laughing so hard-- almost crying. Totally distracting everyone Around us.

Two ladies in front of us, turned around and in a snarky tone said "can you guys be quiet!"

Jamie, quick to snap back replied "No, she is in LABOR!"

It was so nice for her to have my back and for her to stick up for what was happening.

We got out of our seat-- many eyes followed as we squeezed our way out of the row. We were still laughing and to me, for the first time, non of those eyes mattered. We were about to be having a baby!

"My antagonists are too many to count, but I don't swerve from the directions you gave. "Psalm 119:157 MSG

We walked out the door to the arena and We walked over to some men standing by the outside door. Jamie had to ask them if it was okay to leave her car here while she took me in mine because I was having a baby. They looked at me and congratulated us after saying I was in Labor about ten times out of excitement, we turned around an raced toward my car.

We called my mom to meet us at the hospital. I had been texting her at the time when my contractions first began.. So she was already prepared. She had to grab my little brother and she would be right there.

We got to the hospital and checked in. I was still laughing when the nurse came and got Jamie and I. We headed up to one of the smaller rooms that were used to check me, the baby's heart, and my consistency of contractions. My mom joined shortly after.

The baby's heart beat was amazing. Steady and fierce. I was only dilated to a 2... And because I was still laughing they said that the contractions weren't where they needed to be. My mom agreed.

The dr's told me to walk to see if anything would happen.. To see if baby would move at all or my dilation would increase. So Jamie and I took off walking around the hospital.. Talking about how ironically funny God is and how we were so excited for baby to be here. We couldn't wait to meet him.

I wanted to see the little boy that I'd been carrying. I wanted to bad to hold him and hug him. I wanted to see his smile and hear the noises he might make!

"For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all
had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another  and  spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing  and
even favor upon favor  and  gift [heaped] upon gift. "John 1:16 AMP

We looked at all the newborn babies and wondered what Pax would look like. There was a baby that was like 9lbs with a perfectly round head and all the other babies had funny shaped coney heads. We laughed more! The big baby was a c-section baby. I couldn't imagine anyone squeezing that melon out!!

After walking,  we arrived back at the room. They checked me again and told me that nothing was going to happen tonight and that I should go home and try to get some rest. They told me that my contractions were going to stay about 2-3minutes apart and that they would get worse, they would intensify.

The pain scared me. It was going to get worse? I was suppose to try to sleep?! I didn't want to go home: what of something happened. I wanted Jamie to be there.

We left the hospital and Jamie drove me home. I started feeling my contractions beginning to get stronger. I wanted to be strong though, so I just kept a smile on my face.

When we got to my house, We said our goodbyes and i told jamie i would let her know ehen we were going to head back to the hospital... I watched as Jamie pulled away in my car to go to her house and it made me sad.

I wanted her to stay the night. I wanted her to experience all of what was going on. Every contraction, because if our world didn't have suffering, she would be able to get pregnant and even though the contractions were the worst part, I would want her to feel them.. To know that a blessing would be coming from all the pain she would be enduring. It was a blessing to know, I would endure this... What I was about to go through... For the sake of another. God humbled me as I laid down in my mom's room and around 7am--the strong smile on my face became pain filled tears.

"I'll write the book on your righteousness, talk up your salvation the livelong day, never run out of good things to write or say. You got me when I was an unformed youth, God, and taught me everything I know. Now I'm telling the world your wonders; I'll keep at it until I'm old and gray. God, don't walk off and leave me until I get out the news Of your strong right arm to this world, news of your power to the world yet to come, Your famous and righteous ways, O God. God, you've done it all! Who is quite like you? You, who made me stare trouble in the face, Turn me around; Now let me look life in the face. I've been to the bottom; streaming with honors; turn to me, be tender to me, And I'll take up the lute and thank you to the tune of your faithfulness, God. I'll make music for you on a harp, Holy One of Israel." Psalm 71:15, 17-22 MSG

Sometimes, in order to sing... You have to find your voice. God will call us accordingly and through the learning and blessings, we must also go through the hard things. It humbles us and we get the gift of knowing that no matter what... When we go through Things we can't handle: GOD CAN.

"The Labored Irony" - Jamie's Take

February 11th, 2011

"Enlarge the place of your tent,
stretch your tent curtains wide,
do not hold back;
lengthen your cords,
strengthen your stakes." Isaiah 54:2

The Lord was certainly enlarging our territory. He was giving us a baby. An heir to carry the Ward name. A child that will one day give us grand babies. He was giving us a young woman to add to our family as well. A woman who would need our tender love and compassion, not to save her, for she was already in the Lord, but a young woman who needed the love from her Lord's bride, the church, to continue to press on in victory even after her baby was born.

God was not skimping on any details either. Legalities were coming along, the home was finished and the day before we had just gotten our car seat. Bring on the baby.

Tonight we would meet after I got off work and attend the James River Women's Rally. We both needed some Jesus refreshment and I was eager to attend a service, to worship next to her and my baby. Lesa had an appointment before the weekend was to start and was told she was dilated to a 2. They stripped her membranes (whatever that means, yuck!) to induce labor and told her she should probably expect contractions but it wasn't guaranteed. Lesa had planned on working that weekend. The woman was crazy - she started her first set of classes today and was planning on working the weekend and having a baby. The woman was a crazy lady. Made me love her all the more.

During lunch at work I ran to the mall to get her a necklace because the necklace I ordered had yet to come and she was due any day and I wanted to give her something. I left work a bit early to insure I could get decent seats at the rally. When I got to the church the sanctuary doors weren't open yet so I headed to the rally store to get a t-shirt and something for us to drink. Man I was hungry, it had been several days of fasting. I even froze my piece of baby shower cake. I was determined this baby would be thoroughly prayed over and that Lesa's delivery would be amazing. I was a bit fearful for her that since she was so small she'd have a c-section. I wanted God in every part from delivery to hospital favor, to being able to see him, to being there when he was born to Lesa saying good bye. So I prayed specifically and I blended it with fasting..and as soon as we were checked in to the hospital I was gonna get me a Big Mac and extra fries!

Lesa texted that she was there and was waiting in the hallway near one of the sanctuary enterances. Once I finally spotted her, I was captivated and at the same time I felt so sorry for her. She looked pathetic, slumped on a bench against the wall...she was gonna have this baby soon!

I sat down next to her and gave her a hug and my gift. She was grateful for her drink and necklace and she caught me up on her first day of classes and how she was feeling.

The doors opened and we headed in. Lesa moved slowly and as we sat down we started to joke about having the baby that evening. Lesa was tired and just wanted him out. We took some pictures and worship started. I felt bad because I wanted my mind to be on Jesus but all I could think about was Paxton. I was undoubtly thankful for the Lord's hand on it but I felt convicted that my mind would only press in to thoughts of Pax.

Worship was over and we greeted people around us. Lesa had immediately sat down after worship and had to push herself up to say hello to people. Something was up. Lesa looked at me and giggled.."I think I'm having contractions." My face started to hurt from my huge smile. Now this is what I’m talking about. This was really truly happening.

We remembered what Dr. Jamie said about coming to the hospital when the contraction were 3-5 minutes apart. So we waited, timing them, Lesa giggling then I. She'd let me touch her belly every time. The speaker for the evening was sharing her testimony - how she got into drugs and became pregnant - how in her labor pains God was radically changing our heart. Lesa and I laughed, you have to be kidding me, is God serious right now. The speaker continued that at the very same moment her labor was happening, her pastor father was preaching and the Lord told him to stop and pray for his daughter though he had no idea she was pregnant - only lost and a run away - the speaker then showed the audience the video of her dad's service. She then began talking about labor pains again - and Lesa and I lost it.

Lesa was having contractions every 3-5 minutes and we were giggling every time it happened or at the mention of labor pains. The ladies in front us were less than impressed, and I'm pretty sure were unsaved, looking back at us and rolling there eyes. Finally one of them turns around as we decide to leave and asks us to be quiet, and tells us that she's trying to listen. I manage a passive aggressive response," Don't worry we were just leaving, my friend here is having contractions, we're heading to the hospital, we'll be out of your way."

We head out and decide to take her car to the hospital. During contractions Lesa had texted her mom to let her know we were headed to the hospital, she would meet us there. I, texted Ben and my best friends. I drove, we laughed, Lesa labored. She didn't seem phased by them - seeing my mom labor, I knew we were in for a night and it was just the beginning...but I was hopeful.

We got to the hospital and unofficially checked in. Lesa asked if I could go back with her and the nurses didn't seem to mind. They had her dress down and hooked her up. She began the process of seeing if she could be officially admitted. She was dilated to a 2 still but was having contractions. I could hear the heartbeat and see her contractions register on the computer and printer. It was becoming realer than real, Lesa's mom still wasn't there yet.

The nursed asked if I was a friend and Lesa proudly introduced me. We shared a bit about how we just met but that we just adored each other. The nurse then checked the baby's position. Baby was -1 effaced and didn't seem to have any hair. Lesa's mom arrived with some of Lesa's things, expecting that Lesa was going to be admitted, but still hadn't. Ben waited at home till we were sure. After a few hours we were given water bottles and instructed to go walking. Lesa's mom had to leave and make arrangements for Lesa's younger brother in the case that Lesa did get admitted. We walked an hour which seemed so much longer. Lesa was still laughing through contractions and seemed a bit cocky that she could handle this delivery. We headed back where Lesa was now dilated to a 3 but was insured that if she is holding a conversation through a contraction she was still a long ways off. After an hour or so of no change, Lesa was asked to go home. We were both disappointed, however she needed sleep and was advised that laboring at home is much more comfortable than in a hospital.

We headed back to her house at about 3 a.m. I dropped Lesa off at her home and kept her car. I wanted so badly to stay with her, be at her beck and call, just be around her. I just didn't want to pry, I didn't want to seem needy. She looked more uncomfortable and I wanted her to be able to just get some sleep without distractions. I hated leaving her. It felt wrong.

I headed to a friend's house that Ben and I were staying with due to just finding out our water to our shower was not working. I was okay with that because it was Heather’s home, we’d extended stayed before and it was 3 minutes from Lesa's. If baby came, we were gonna be there till our water was fixed, which Heather loved, and I thought was pretty perfect since she's the one that told Lesa's mom about us and she’s an incredible mother of four boys - she knows her stuff. I knew my baby and I would be in great hands even when Ben would have to go straight back to work after his birth.

I got to Heather's and I surprisingly crashed next to my husband in the spare bedroom. Ben was incredibly thorough, he had packed for both of us and baby while also managing to put in our car seat. His downfall, in his hurry to get the car packed and potentially head to hospital, he backed out of garage with one of the back doors still opened. Poor guy, I thought it was more cute than anything. The door stayed on but was forbidden to be opened.

God was undeniably good.

That moment before you receive your promise is so memorable. You remember smells and sights. You're focused and feel so alive. That's the beauty of being under the lordship of a Holy Creator. My encouragement to you though, is to keep your heart fastened on the Promise Giver more than the Promise. For as soon as you receive your Promise, you must remain humbled under the loving direction of the Promise Giver - that you may receive the clearest and most ideal instructions on how to nurture the Promise that was given. (Please see my own blog - her-keys-typed.blogspot.com - "Glorifying the Promise Rather than the Promise Keeper").

"My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds,of your saving acts all day long—though I know not how to relate them all. I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord;
I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone. Since my youth, God, you have taught me,
and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray,
do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation,
your mighty acts to all who are to come. Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens,
you who have done great things. Who is like you, God? Though you have made me see troubles,
many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth
you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once more. I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre,
Holy One of Israel." Psalm 71:15-22

"Oh Know You Didn't" - Lesa's & Jamie's take

--Lesa's Take --

Oh no you didn't

On Feb 8th, I had another dr's appointment. They were going to see how I was doing and how baby was coming along. He was due on feb 14th and everyone was anticipating his arrival.

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope; " Psalm 130:5

I was getting tired of carrying so much weight around, but the wait-- was necessary.  Little Paxton needed all the time he could to develop and grow.

After Jamie (my dr), got done checking me, she said that he was in the right position-- head down-- and his heartbeat was good and strong. She told me that we had to set an induction date if he didn't come out by the 14th. The only day available was the 15th.

Hesitant to agree because the beginning of my pregnancy, I didn't want to take the Risk that he wouldn't be done "baking" yet.

At times, I was ready for him to be in the arms of Jamie and Ben.. But at other times, I wanted him to stay in my stomach forever... I didn't believe GOD when he said he would be fine... I still had doubts because of the drugs I did.

"casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

Natural seemed the way to go,  I was scared that an induction could affect the baby in a negative way. I was scared to even take medication when I was sick because I didn't want Pax getting anything that could harm him... I could tell Jamie saw the worried look on my face and she asked if I would want to come back in that Friday, the 11th.

She scheduled my induction date for the 15th, but she said I should be more than hopeful that it would happen before that day. I knew God had brought me this far and had shown me such grace, that I just had to trust he knew what he was doing in the midst of my fears.

Months before, I was so lost and alone... A girl in all the same situations but with no guidance.. But now, I felt ready for what God had planned for me.

"I will thank you forever,
because you have done it.
I will wait for your name, for it is good,
in the presence of the godly." Psalm 52:9 ESV

Even though I messed up in the beginning, I had hope that God would "deliver" my baby from My Sin...  And he would be strong...

"do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6

He would begin as a Beautiful miracle delivered and become a blessed man discipled.

When we stay faithful, God rains down favor.

"I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves. And I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect." Leviticus 26:13

God can always make your journey favorable if you love him and give him the glory with Your Life. His compassion makes all things good.

What outcome are you hoping for? What past experience do you need to give up to God so you can move forward in your relationship with him?

"Oh Know You Didn't" - Jamie's take

Things were coming along in the house. Ben and I had to talked about the possibility of moving into something bigger as we initially purchase our itty bitty home because we were never there except to shower and sleep and...most importantly didn't have children. We were praying but weren't feeling the need to.

Lesa and I were texting everyday. Sending scriptures back and forth and talking about life. We'd meet up for coffee and such and talked about the baby room.

Lesa had another appointment on February 8th at 11a.m. and fortunately I was able to get off for a moment to go to it. I met Lesa there and we headed downstairs. We went in as her name was called and did the same routine. It was just Lesa and I. The whole time I was so hopeful she was gonna have the baby that day.

As we entered the room Lesa was told to dress down, as the curtain was closed between us, we continued to joke that she was gonna be rushed to the hospital because Dr. Jamie would tell her she was ready.

The doctor came in and I joined Lesa at her head. I again heard the heart beat, that never got old. She then told Lesa she was still 1 cm. dilated but that he was low..about 0% effaced. She joked he may not have much hair. Which would be the first of many times we would be told he may be a baldy.

We discussed what it would look like if he didn't come Monday the 14th, that she would need an induction and the only available date was the 15th. Lesa was apprehensive. From our talks, I knew she was eager to have him and get some sleep and be comfortable but at the same time she wanted nothing rushed.

The doctor also asked me if I had any questions. I asked what the hospital stay would look like and if I'd get to see him at all after birth. Jamie didn't seem to know as she only worked with the pregnancy side of things. I felt kind of sheepish asking about that rather than the baby's health. I trusted the Lord with Pax's health and at this point the first months of his life in the womb were not even on my mind, I knew that was God’s responsibility. It was another miracle, I wasn’t worrying. Miraculous!

"Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." 1 Peter 5:7

Since Lesa was doing things through The Pregnancy Care Center - who worked with this particular OBGYN office - Jamie would not be doing the delivery but rather the O.B. Hospitalist on duty. I had been getting info from friends who worked at the hospital about the stay. The clearest info I received was that if there was availability we could possibly stay in the hospital, it would depend on the nurses, and that I would have access like any natural mother to the nursery and visiting.

I just wanted him here, selfishly. Not just to see him and hold him, but the sooner he was born the sooner he'd be home with us, the sooner the pain and reality of taking him from her would happen and be over.

I was really struggling with it. This would be what I wrestled with even after we brought him home.

I was grateful Lesa wanted an open adoption. When Ben and I first researched adoption we were completely opposed. We didn't want to have to be responsible for meetings and caring for the emotions of the birth mom. I was selfish. But the more I thought about it before I met Lesa - it just made more sense. A mother who wants to even just see pictures of their baby, makes me know they will take care of themselves during pregnancy. that they are concerned for their baby's well being long term.

"Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." Philippians 4:6

We left the appointment and I headed to work. We kept in touch all day and I called Ben with the update. Lesa and I made plans to attend a local church’s women’s rally that Friday, and we were stoked to hang and get spiritually refreshed. I was excited too because in a couple days we would have the last needed baby item, the car seat and stroller duo and we'd be ready!

"I will praise you forever, O God,
for what you have done.
I will trust in your good name
in the presence of your faithful people." Psalm 52:9

Within weeks our home was changing, our family was expanding by two and our faith was increasing. God had truly showed Himself faithful and true. It was undeniable God was evident in this. In every way He was providing more than enough. More than enough money, resources, support and favor. We felt honored and extremely favored and yet so very humble at the same time.

"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so you would no longer be their slaves. I broke the yoke of slavery from your neck so you can walk with your heads held high." Leviticus 26:13

We were humbled under God's extraordinary love, that He would consider our desire and go above our hopes to execute such an extravagant show of love. We were also humbled knowing that there was gonna be a sacrifice, from a young woman, that would bare more than pain and would break her very core - as she walked in obedience to the Lord. Our favor would come from the heartache of another. And we were humbled.

God can always make your journey favorable if you love him and your life's desire is to please Him. His compassion makes all things good.

What outcome are you hoping for? What past experience do you need to give up to God so you can move forward in your relationship with Him?

"I am counting on the LORD;
yes, I am counting on him.
I have put my hope in his word." Psalm 130:5
